I met myself in Silverpine Forest. And I’ll never forget how he grinned.

In 2018, indie publisher Storgy launched their Shallow Creek short story competition. Every entrant was given a prompt - and by prompt I mean the most inventive and creative set of documents, maps and character backstories I've ever seen. Every story was to be written in the fictional town of Shallow Creek, an eerie place somewhere between Castle Rock, Maine and Twin Peaks. My character was John Hamilton, a middle-aged sherrif with a background as murky as Shallow Creek itself.

It was great fun to write, and the story made it into the compilation book, which you can buy here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/SHALLOW-CREEK-STORGY-BOOKS-ebook/dp/B07PVPW9SD
